Dr. Taha Talaat-an Eear,Nose, and Throat surgeon- was faced in 1967 with increasing numbers of deaf children who were brought into the ENT clinic for treatment, and their families who were posing difficult questions about the future of their children, as to their education, employment and marriage. When he looked at the situation of adult Deaf and found a small group of them isolated in a corner of a café in Khartoum’ native market, he found that there was nothing being offered to deaf children or to adult Deaf on both official and popular levels. He felt that some thing has to be done about it”. When The founder of SNSD did not find suitable response from the official authorities. He invited a group of conscientious citizens of both sexes from his friends and acquaintances to think together how to confront this problem and establish solutions for it. This group wrote the SNSD Statute and proceeded to register with the Registrar of Voluntary Organizations. In the same time “Al Amal Wal Tahadi, 25 years of SNSD anniversary”

SNSD’s Executive Committee established an advisory body to discuss and lay down a 5 years plan
to address our inspirations in reaching a higher platform in our mission to better educate,
rehabilitate, and integrate Deaf people all over Sudan.
Depending on SNSD’s history the plan should promote policies, regulations, and programs to
improve the quality of existing services, and introduce new services whenever and wherever improve the quality of existing services, and introduce new services whenever and wherever
necessary. To this end the SNSD shall cooperate with both donors and recipients; individuals,
service providers, civil societies, organizations, and government agencies.
SNSD shall encourage, participation of Deaf children and their families, and shall conduct studies
and research on issues related to this plan.
SNSD shall strive to decrease the incidence of Deafness, design early detection and early
intervention programs, provide education for every Deaf child in the country, provide Hearing Aids intervention programs, provide education for every Deaf child in the country, provide Hearing Aids
and cochlear implants for those who needs it, community outreach to both public and private
sectors including businesses and government agencies to build new schools, renovates existing
ones and create more fund raising projects to spend on these programs.
To collect information and data in relation to its programs, look for service options available to
Deaf children and their families, and undertake duties and responsibilities pertinent to its mission.

The SNSD being the community’s leading and oldest advocacy organization in the ﬁeld of deafness
and the Deaf in Sudan shall value and incorporate the Deaf people and the community views
into its 5 years strategic plan.
By establishing priority-setting mechanisms that ﬁt closely with the organization’s mission,

of equality, inclusion and freedom of choice. The society works within the Sudan Constitution

SNSD is accountable to the Deaf community and its membership according to its constitution
through the Executive Board of SNSD.
SNSD maintains the ﬁnancial viability of the organization through investing its assets.
SNSD is accountable to its Founding Fathers, society members, and partners for its performance
according to the desiered outcomes.
SNSD, as a member of the World Federation of the Deaf since 1972 adheres to its principles in
promoting the Deaf people’s rights in accordance with UN Charter, Human Rights, Children Rights,
and Rights of People with Disability conventions.
SNSD adhere to the ethics and standards of the Professional Associations in conducting its
